FAQ

  • Can I purchase a gift card?

Absolutely! We are pleased to offer physical or e-gift cards to our community. These are great gifts for the plant-based folks in your life (and the omnivores too!) Get a gift card here or visit us in store today!

  • What is your large party policy?

All groups of 6 and more are subject to a 20% automatic gratuity. For groups of 10 and more, we require a credit card on file to make the reservation. If there is a cancellation within 24 hours of the reservation time, there may be a $50 charge to account for added staff and lost revenue of the cancelled party.

  • Do I need a reservation?

If you want to guarantee a table, it is recommended that you book a reservation, especially for peak times (weekends, evenings, winter months when we do not have the patio). We do accept a limited amount of walk-ins, but typically have waitlists on most nights.

  • Can I make a reservation for the patio?

Due to Calgary’s ever-changing weather patterns and unpredictability, we do not accept reservations for the patio. We recommend that you book a reservation anyways, and if there is a table available on the patio (and the weather permits), we can absolutely seat you there :)

  • Is your restaurant wheelchair accessible?

Due to the age of our building, we are not *technically* wheelchair accessible (we have narrow doorways for our front door and bathrooms, no handrails in bathrooms, and guests in wheelchairs would need assistance passing through exterior doors due to raised thresholds). That said, we would never want to discourage our friends with limited mobility from dining with us. If you are comfortable with our accessibility limitations, then so are we!

  • Is your patio pet friendly?

YES! We love all well-behaved furry friends. Indoors is unfortunately NOT pet friendly, due to Alberta Health regulations.

  • I have severe allergies, can I eat at Vegan Street?

While we do our best to accommodate all allergies, it is best to call or email ahead of time to confirm that we can find something that is safe for you to eat. Common cross-contamination risks include gluten, soy, sesame, garlic, and onion. We do have a dedicated gluten-free deep-fryer, but flour is very present in our kitchen. All of our dishes are nut-free, but there are still items that are processed in facilities where other nuts are present. It is your responsibility to let your server know of all allergies before ordering food.

  • Is Vegan Street kid-friendly?

Yes! We even have a “Little Vegans” section of our menu, where you or your little one can order smaller, simpler versions of our regular menu :) There is a baby change table in the washroom, and high chairs are available upon request.

  • Can I bring in my own wine or cake?

You can bring your own bottle of *vegan* wine or *vegan* cake. We charge a $2 cake fee per person to account for the plateware and cutlery to serve it with, and a $20 corkage fee for outside wine.

  • Do you offer buyouts/ private parties?

We offer private buy-outs of our restaurant space. Fill out the contact form here with date, timeframe, party size, and any other details to help us provide you with an accurate quote and availability. Check out our private events page to explore our unique options that best suit your event!

  • Do you still have your food truck or offer off-site catering?

We said goodbye to our food truck in 2023, and due to our limited team size, we do not offer off-site catering. That said, we are able to fulfill custom/ large take-out orders. Please inquire with your desired date, top food picks, party size and other information about your event (time of food service) on our Private Events Page Here and we will do our best to accommodate you.

  • What is the "Eco Fee" on my bill?

We have used 100% backyard compostable takeout containers, bags, and cutlery since day one, and want to continue to offer this environmentally-friendly choice into the future. The eco fee covers the additional cost to provide 100% compostable products for all your takeout/ leftover needs. And since our portions are so big, leftovers are very common at VS ;) If you do not end up taking leftovers, just ask your server and we will be more than happy to remove this fee.
